PHOTOGRAPHERS WANTED

Rollingball is partnering with The City of Newcastle to find five emerging photographers to take part in a week-long master-class with Stephen Dupont from October 5, 2011.  The group will capture a suite of images that represent the diversity and vibrancy of the city, so a breadth of specialisations are sought to develop the body of work.

The master-class will be based at The Roost Creative, 593 Hunter Street, and at 6pm Monday 10 October, the doors will open for a public discussion about photography, capturing Newcastle, and the progress of the project.

If you’re interested in being a part of the master-class send five examples of your work along with 100 words about what you would like to see captured and what you can bring to the project to info@rollingball.com.au. Expressions of interest close 5pm 16 September, 2011.

(L to R) playwright David Williamson, actress Sigrid Thornton, director Des Monaghan, Rollingball producer April Howard, pitching finalist Alex and Jodie.

With Producer, April Howard, presenting and pitching Rollingball's new production 'Eat Fresh Drink Local' to a panel of judges including the amazing actress Sigrid Thornton, playwright David Williamson and director Des Monaghan.
Eat Fresh Drink Local

"Our production of Eat Fresh Drink Local  has been a great opportunity to showcase the stunning backdrop of Newcastle and the Hunter in what we are hoping is a platform to explore and visually document our region and what it has to offer. Long-term we'd like to take EFDL beyond the boundaries of the Hunter and into other food and wine meccas in the country." Rollingball Director, Paul Donnelly.

Eat Fresh, Drink Local in the Hunter is an exciting series dedicated to exploring gastronomic, historical and geographic delights of the Hunter region.

Using food and wine pairing as a platform, the viewer is taken on a journey throughout the region as our Sommelier and Chef introduce intriguing personalities and experts interspersed with lush cuisine, rich history and compelling landscapes.

April Howard took to the stage to pitch in front of a packed theatre of 400 industry guests and when completed made this comment: "To take part in the live workshop and then pitch was a huge step for me personally and our company.  Suffice to say that it was one of the most nerve wracking and rewarding experiences I have had to face in one day.  What I found most significant about the event and the festival in general was the encouragement and support we received from the industry professionals and the general public.  It is clear that although it is a competitive industry, the people working within it want to see each other succeed and are willing to support one another and collaborate to ensure creative projects progress in this country."

Actor Rhys Muldoon

The Rollingball team had an amazing weekend and have definitely found the annual event for the team to be attending.

Putting the Fox in Foxtel

The Logies wrapped up last week after a gruelling few weeks of styling preparations for our Foxtel Showtime and Showcase clients.
Back and forth with designers, PR teams, jewellers, shoe companies, publicists...it has been a whirlwind of fittings, fabric, feathers, diamonds and gems.

With one of our clients nominated for a TV Week Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Actress  and 4 others all in current TV series on the FOXTEL Network, we couldn't risk the chance of one client looking bad on the red carpet, so we sent our stylist, Lainey Donnelly, on a little jet plane down to Melbourne.

After arriving the morning prior to the Logie's with suitcases full of shoes, bags, dresses, suits and 'styling first aid' (i.e. shoe petals, hollywood tape, needles and thread etc.),it was time to set up the hotel suite for final layout of garments.

Saturday night was the the Foxtel Pre-Logies Dinner Party, with red carpet and pre-drinks at Tonic Bar at Crown Promenade, then the guests slide across to the Crown Casino to dine at Neil Perry's Spice Temple.

Both ladies looked absolutely fabulous as they mingled and sipped on champagne with the 'cloudstreet' cast, Geoff Morrell, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Stephen Curry and many more.

Then back to bed for an early start sunday morning.  Logies now only 16 hours away.

When Lainey woke and looked out the window, the red carpet was in full production mode, television station trucks lined the streets, production crew running around doing last minute changes and bus loads of children coming to scream on the stars as they walked the red carpet.

4 hours till red carpet.
Dresses and suits steamed...check.  Jewels and cuff links polished...check. Clients into hair and makeup....check.
1 hour till red carpet
Now it was time to dress the clients before we leave for the red carpet.
